Are you Saved?, are you being saved?, or will you be saved?
This had me puzzled once because while reading/studying the Word i would come a cross verses that mentioned "you are saved", "you are being saved", "and you will be saved".
While looking into this I found it to be the lack of understanding the scripture that leads some religions(and cults) to misinterpret the scriptures and create doctrines of man (Matt 15:7-9).
If you are saved: accepted Gods only plan of salvation for us to be reconciled back to God through the works of the Son (Jesus Christ). Then....
You are saved!!!
You are being saved!!!
and...You will be saved!!!
He HAS saved us (Regeneration) (Born again) Jesus Christ at work
Ephesians. 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
Acts 16:31 And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
He IS saving us (Sanctification) (Set Apart) Holy Spirit at work
2 Corinthians 4:16 So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.
1 Peter 1:2 according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in the sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood: May grace and peace be multiplied to you.
Colossians 2:6 Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him,
2 Thessalonians 2:13 But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as the firstfruits to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth.
John 17:17 Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.
1Tim 2:15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.
He WILL save us (Glorification) God The Father at work
1 Peter 1:5 who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
1Co 15:42-44
42 So is it with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable; what is raised is imperishable.
43 It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power.
44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body...
1Co 15:49-54
49 ...Just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the man of heaven.
50 I tell you this, brothers: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.
51 Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed.
53 For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality.
54 When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory."
Hebrews 9:27-28
27 And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment,
28 so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.
